The next Central West Austin Planning Workshop will discuss TREES!
When: WEDNESDAY, January 30th
Time: 6:45pm
Where: Austin State School (please see directions below)
Tree questions to consider for January 30th:
- What are the characteristics of your neighborhood’s existing urban forest?
- What are the issues affecting the neighborhood’s urban forest (age, disease)?
- What areas of your neighborhood would benefit from additional tree plantings?
- What utility accommodation strategies would best benefit the neighborhood forest (utility-friendly trees, change of pole sizes and/or location)?
- Are there heritage trees (noteworthy characteristics such as size or age), trees with historical significance (associated with a historical event or person), or large groves of trees?
- What theme (tree-lined streets, limited species, numerous species) do you want?
- What educational materials would benefit your community (how to plant, fertilizing, pruning, etc)?
Your comments and feedback have told us that trees mean a lot to your neighborhood. As such, please help us spread the word of this meeting by passing this notice along. Staff greatly appreciates any help getting the word out about the planning process we are currently in. Also, a BIG “Thank you” to all of those who have and continue to participate in the process.
DIRECTIONS TO AUSTIN STATE SCHOOL NEOS Building: (2203 W. 35th Street). When you enter the campus on 35th Street, follow the main street and proceed straight through the four-way stop intersection toward the back of the campus. Continue on the main street for approximately 1⁄4 mile past the four-way stop, and you'll see a brown wooden sign that says Community Relations on your left. Continue on the main road past this sign, and look to your left. NEOS sits away from the street and has a black door with neon letters. You may park in the lot in front of the entrance, or there is a large lot diagonally across the street to your right. There will be directional arrows (black arrows on white board) posted as well that will guide attendees. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE AUSTIN STATE SCHOOL HAS A STRICT 10 MILE AN HOUR SPEED LIMIT FOR THE SAFETY OF RESIDENTS AND OTHER PEDESTRIANS.
