toolkit

In the early 1990's, the city relied exclusively upon speed bumps (like the ones on Jefferson) for traffic calming.  Experience showed that speed bumps interfered with emergency vehicles, and so the city no longer uses them.  Instead, the current program has a toolkit of devices to choose from, each of which has different characteristics.  See here for a photo and description of each device.  (We apologize for the quality of the photos; we will ask the city for a better copy.)
